It's normally the little things that make my day great; a love note from my husband on the kitchen counter or goodies someone leaves for our office staff to devour.
So, what made my day yesterday? Someone asked me how to cook Asparagus.
I was at Publix, quickly grabbing our ingredients for dinner, when this woman asked me if I knew how to cook Asparagus. Asparagus? I was way too overly joyed to share.
Yes! I just don't know one way to cook it, I can tell you 2 ways! It's healthier if you steam it. You don't have a steamer? You can fry it in a pan. A little olive oil, salt & pepper. On medium. And keep stirring them around. Oh, you want to cut the stems off pretty high, too. They can be so chewy that you want to spit them out...
I see your head cocked to one side, trying to figure this out, so let me explain ;-)
I only know how to cook a limited number of things. I am normally on the other end, asking other people how to cook stuff. So, when I was able to help someone else with cooking something, well, it just made my day. I almost gave her my phone number, so she could tell me how they turned out, but I controlled myself.
I'm thinking this is the same joy that my husband and I will feel as we share our vast knowledge with our new son or daughter.
I'm just glad the lady didn't need to cook a mince meat pie. Couldn't have helped her there!
