Christmas in a Shoe Box

I just realized the other day that I started this blog last November. November 20th will be my blogiversary!

In one of my very first posts, I mentioned a goal of mine to shop all throughout the year for "Operation Christmas Child" shoeboxes. I am proud to say that I actually did it! We were able to fill 11 shoeboxes.

It doesn't sound like a lot, but last year we only did 6 because of the expense. We were spending about $8-$10 per shoebox, plus an extra $7 each box for shipping and handling. Since I shopped all year for them, I know we spent a lot less per box this year. I hope we get to do even more next year! I have so much fun picking out toys and filling them up.

We will get to add these to the 150 that my church has done! It's never too late to join in on the giving. If you don't have time to put together shoe boxes, you can donate money to go toward shipping these gifts around the world to needy children. Find out more here.

We put a christmas card in each shoebox with the following message: We have never met you, but we know that God made you special and He loves you very much. We hope you like everything in your box. Lots of Love, Daniel and Heather Willoughby

Oh, to see their smiles!!!!
