A little Thanksgiving, a little Christmas

As promised, here are our fall decorations this year. It's not much, but I just used things that I already had around the house.

I told my granny yesterday that i started a blog. She said "What do you blog about?"
Well...My husband and I don't have kids yet, but even with just the 2 of us, I'm learning that it takes A LOT to run a home. I am constantly googling, searching for answers on such things as recycling, making my home and life more "green", making healthier meals, gardening, decorating, organizing...the list goes on. I hope to share my discoveries in these areas, as well as things I love like music & coffee (hence my blog name), and being creative. And I hope to hear from others who are way past me and could very well write articles for Good Housekeeping :-) If that's you-take as much "comment" space as you need!

I love it when someone tells me what they're going through and I can relate, becuase it's exactly what's going on in my life. It makes me feel more normal-connected-and not alone in my situation. And maybe, as I blog, something you read might make you feel the same way.

So Granny, I guess I'm just blogging about my life :-) Should make for some interesting reading! Be sure to see the end of my post for a cute new Christmas decor peice I got at the "Prim Shack" in Dundee, a little store of handmade gifts and home decor.

Random picture of my beautiful GRANNY, back in the day (when there was no such thing as blogging!)

This is outside on our front porch. I filled the glass jar with bird seed to weigh it down.

Wreath from WalMart. Love it because it also makes a lovely centerpeice for my table when I put a bowl in the middle with fruit or mini pumpkins (see previous post).

Table Runner, another treasure from WalMart :-)

After taking this picture, I thought maybe I should add raffia bows at the top of the jars to pretty this up a little bit.

So, here is the great deal I got from the Prim Shack. Isn't it cute? This is an old orange grove ladder, with a white berry garland and handmade candy cane ornaments. They call all of their ornaments "ornies".

I went to their store on Saturday with my mom & sis in law. We were drawn in by the fact that they were giving out scratch off tickets to the first 25 customers, with a chance of getting 40% off. I picked a 40% -er ticket! Whoo hoo. I should have been buying Christmas presents for others, but I had to buy this one for myself. Merry Christmas to me.

Click here to visit the Prim Shack's website and check out their handmade goodies. Pictures of Saturday's event are posted on their Facebook page. We are in some of them, caught in action :-) You can make Prim Shack one of your stops on Black Friday. They are offering 25% off all day.
